The situation at the start
The Packhouse Door Enforces Lorien's Exclusion
Lorien is barred from a celebration because her Omega status limits not only which entrance she may use but which events she may attend at all. Her employment is precarious enough that sneaking inside could cost her work. Maeryn's privileged access contrasts with that restriction, and the guard can injure Lorien without an immediate challenge. The opening turns a doorway into a concrete expression of class and institutional exclusion.
