The situation at the start
A Father's Death Removes Pack Representation
Rose explains that her family stopped attending official pack meetings after her father's death. At university, classmates' reactions to the returning Alpha show a different kind of access to power: celebrity attention mixed with fear. Alice supplies information Rose lacks about his early succession and strength. The opening places Rose on the edge of pack politics, not because she is wholly uninformed about her world, but because loss has narrowed her participation.
