The situation at the start

A Female Beta Earns Authority in Council

Feyre's military judgment receives a serious hearing in the council room, where others build on the strategy she endorses. Her appointment at sixteen once attracted doubts about both age and gender, but seven years of leadership have given her visible standing. Even so, she describes respect as something continually earned. The opening emphasizes the work sustaining authority rather than assuming that a recognized title has ended every pressure attached to it.
