The situation at the start

Scarlet Cannot Rest Inside Her Own Mansion

Scarlet lives in a prominent pack family's mansion, yet sleeps on a damaged mat and expects punishment for even a moment's delay in service. Her family's standing therefore offers no reliable measure of her own security. The opening concentrates on the distribution of ordinary necessities, especially sleep, privacy, and physical safety, showing how someone can belong to a powerful household while being denied the protections its prestige might suggest.
