The situation at the start

James Declares Victory Entitles Him to Replace Cindy

James announces a new Luna as a decision already completed, then invokes his authority as Alpha when Cindy challenges the betrayal. He treats military success as grounds for choosing Evelyn while discounting Cindy's work at home. Her response exposes a competing account of the pack's survival, built on caregiving and her inheritance, making the dispute about whose contributions count as power as well as who holds the title.
