The Alpha Of The North: Story & Stakes

The situation at the start

Luxuria Is Branded Cursed Before the Ceremony

The flash-forward places Luxuria before a mating ceremony she does not want, surrounded by a family's belief that she belongs with a feared Alpha because she is cursed. The earlier birthday scene shows that label already operating as public humiliation before the match. Reports about previous mates heighten her dread, while the family's repeated use of the curse label gives those stories immediate social force in these opening paragraphs, regardless of how Luxuria understands their cause.
