The situation at the start

A Prophecy Grants Vione Rank Without Acceptance

Vione's position rests on a Sacred Elder's prophecy that even the Alpha must obey, yet formal recognition has not silenced claims that she is unworthy. Mireya attacks both that origin and Vione's lack of family and claws. The opening distinguishes institutional legitimacy from everyday security: Vione can invoke a title backed by authority while still having to defend herself physically against someone who refuses to respect it.
