The situation at the start

Roderick Rejects Lyric After His Pack Gains Standing

Lyric accuses Roderick of using their arranged bond to advance his pack, and his response emphasizes that his new rank leaves her powerless to retaliate. His insults about her scar serve alongside that political boast, presenting appearance as a pretext for exclusion rather than a measure of worth. The threat of guards turns rejection into displacement, while her own family's refusal removes the fallback her birth should seemingly have provided.
