The situation at the start
An Attack Reorganizes Training and Pack Leadership
The narrator's birthday anticipation sits inside a pack reshaped by an earlier attack that killed its Alpha and her parents. Young successors had to assume responsibility quickly, and defensive training now applies to every member rather than only designated fighters. Her own education in pack administration offers a concrete place within that system, making the opening as much about institutional adaptation after loss as the personal milestone she expects tomorrow.
